International Week at the American School of Doha
ASD celebrated their annual International Week from the 20th to the 24th of January. They asked that students come to school wearing their home country's traditional dress. Gabrielle, of course, wore her Mexican pesant dress. Nick and Mom went up to the school to take part in the week's opening ceremony. Two students from each native country were asked to carry their country's flag down the middle isle as the MC gave a short commentary about that country. The biggest cheers were received as both the United States of America and the Qatari flags were presented. Totally awesome!!! When Gabrielle came home from school that day, she told us that when the kids at school saw her in her dress, they asked her why she was wearing that, when they knew she was from Texas. She so eloquently answered, "I am, but I am also a Mexican!"
Rolando, Lucy, Gabrielle and Nicholas are now expats from Texas living in Doha, Qatar, a peninsula off the coast of Saudi Arabia. As we mark the 1 year anniversary of our new life in Doha, all we can say is "WOW! Time has gone by fast." It's been both a physical and emotional roller coaster of a ride. Our family has visited five different countries, been on approximately eight different flights, and has been blessed enough to go back to Texas to visit our family and friends twice! We invite you to view all our pictures to re-cap our first year's vast adventures; and ask that you re-visit this page often to see what is yet to come! To our families, we miss you lots and love you more!!!
